Six of the Best: The Human Edition

Let's focus this edition of six of the best on human intelligence. Here's my summary of some of the most interesting things I read this last week:

1) Like ants, humans are easily led: Telegraph.co.uk
This article starts off with the great quote: "When it comes to being misled, humans are no more sophisticated than ants or fish." Another article in the Telegraph talks about how people act like sheep when they are in crowds, blindly following anyone who seems to know where they're going. Is this what Twitter is all about?

2) Make Leadership Happen: Brand Autopsy
John Moore reviews Seth Godin's book Tribes where the people on the cover look like ants.

3) How dumb do you think your customers are? The Marketing Minute
Ever get one of those "Save our Planet" notes from hotels that don't want to wash your towels or sheets? Drew McLellan says: "No one is fond of someone who talks to them like they're a moron."

4) Just Tell the Truth: Dim Bulb
Jonathan Salem-Baskin also urges marketers to tell the truth. Specifically, he says: "Consumers don't want to be distracted, entertained, or forge emotional relationships with the deeper meaning behind disposable diapers or toothpaste. They just want to be told the truth."

5) Is all marketing self-serving? Brains on Fire
It's a question that Spike struggles with but Scott has no doubts. "Snap out of it people."

6) Scientists prove it really is a thin line between love and hate: The Independent
"Love and hate are intimately linked within the human brain, according to a study that has discovered the biological basis for the two most intense emotions."
